Frequently asked questions
Still looking for an answer?
What makes a print “Sanganeri,” and is it hand block printed?
Sanganeri is a centuries-old hand block printing tradition from Sanganer, near Jaipur, known for its fine floral motifs pressed onto a light or white ground. This piece is hand block printed by artisan clusters who continue this craft today, which is why every length of fabric carries small, natural variations that no machine print can replicate.
Why does my print look slightly different from the product photograph?
Every hand block print is stamped by human hand, one impression at a time. Gentle variation in motif placement, spacing, and colour depth is a natural part of this process, not a defect. It is, in fact, the clearest sign of genuine handwork.
Will the print fade or bleed with washing?
Our prints are set using traditional dyeing methods and tested for colourfastness before dispatch. To preserve the print's depth over time, we recommend washing separately in cold water for the first two to three washes and avoiding direct sunlight while drying.
Can I wear Sanganeri prints to work, or are they more suited to festive occasions?
Both. The Sanganeri Edit is designed with quieter, smaller-scale motifs and restrained
colourways specifically so it moves easily between a weekday desk and a family dinner or
festive gathering, without needing a change of outfit.
What is this fabric made from, and why does ROJIA choose it?
We work with pure cotton, European linen, and thoughtfully constructed cotton-linen blends, chosen for how each performs through an Indian day. Cotton lends softness and structure, linen brings breathability and a natural, slightly textured drape, and where blended, the two combine to hold their shape through long hours at a desk and remain unfussy through an evening at home. The exact composition of this piece is noted in the product details above.
Is the fabric breathable enough for Coimbatore or Chennai summers?
Yes. Cotton and linen fibres allow air to pass through the weave, which keeps the fabric cool against the skin even in high humidity. Many of our customers wear the collection through peak summer months without discomfort.
Will the fabric crease easily?
Some natural creasing is part of the character of cotton and linen; it is not a flaw but a signature of the fibre. A light iron on medium heat, or a few minutes on a hanger in a steamy bathroom, restores a clean finish quickly.
Does the fabric shrink after washing?
A marginal shrinkage of up to 3–5% is natural to untreated cotton and linen weaves and has already been accounted for in our sizing. We recommend the first wash in cold water to settle the fabric before wearing.
